Wellness Care-

Suburban Animal Hospital strives to prevent illness and enhance the quality of life for each of our patients. The time and effort invested in our Wellness Care Programs has rewards for both pet and owner. We design our wellness programs specifically for your pet which include parasite screening, heartworm test and prevention, dental care, vaccinations, nutritional advice, flea control and a overall health history and physical exam. We provide regular reminder mailings to help remind you when your pet is due for their wellness care examination so that they stay healthy and live a longer, happier life.

Vaccinations-

Our goal at Sububan Animal Hospital is to provide an individual heath care program for your pet. We understand that there is no one plan that fits all as environment, exposure, and breed/size are different for every pet. There have been a lot of changes in the vaccine protocols and together, with your specific situation and the recommendation of the doctor, a plan can be implemented that best meets the needs for a healthy protected vaccine schedule.

Heartworm/Flea/Tick Prevention-
We are committed to your pet and believe that heartworm prevention begins with starting your pet off with a good preventative healthcare program. Your pet's health depends on you and us, and they are at risk for different infectious diseases throughout their lives. Heartworm is 100% preventable with just giving your pet an easy treatment once a month. We carry several types of heartworm preventatives for both your dog and cat. Fleas have come to love Florida for the wonderful weather and because they can enjoy a longer, warmer lifestyle. Flea control is a major component in your pet's healthcare. If untreated, fleas can grow into an almost unmanageable problem that can cause not only discomfort for your pets, but also parasitic disorders such as tapeworms and extreme skin irritation and infection called Flea Allergic Dermatitis. Ticks are a problem virtually everywhere in the United States. They are not only annoying pests, but also they are capable of transmitting diseases to your dog or to your family. To help protect you and your pet, we offer K-9 Advantix, Advantage, Frontline spray, and Preventic Collars that not only help with flea control but also protect your pet form tick-related illnesses like Lyme disease.

Senior Health Management-
Unfortunately, our pets age much faster than we do. Suburban Animal Hospital provides routine senior-care and health management for our aging friends. We offer various bloodwork profiles for our aging pets to help better monitor their health so that possible problems that may arise as they age can be caught sooner and addressed accordingly. We also recommend health products such as glucosamines, geriatric diets, and NSAIDs for pain if necessary.

General Surgery-
Our surgical suite is equipped with state of the art equipment and safest anesthetics available. Since no two pets are alike, we treat each pet as an individual, and our goal is to assure that every precaution has been taken to provide a high quality level of care. To provide the best possible care, patients requiring anesthesia services are required to have an examination and blood work prior to surgery to evaluate the health status of the pet. Since we are a pain free hospital, each pet is given pain medication prior to, during and after surgery. Our nurses are with your pet monitoring them throughout recovery and to make sure that your pet's safety comes first. A discharge appointment time is scheduled for you and your pet to discuss the surgery, expected progress, and appropriate after care necessary for a full recovery for your pet.

Pain Management-

Management of animal pain is advancing to a new era with the introduction of safer analgesic drugs and the development of improved approaches to rehabilitation. Suburban Animal Hospital is a pain free hospital and provides your pet with various options of pain management while also monitoring your pet's health while using these products with regular exams and bloodwork monitoring. All surgical patients are administered pain medications during and after surgical procedures. We want your pets to be as comfortable as possible during their procedures as well as during recovery and for health problems such as arthritis, etc.

Radiographs-
Suburban Animal Hospital provides full radiographic services to aid in diagnosis of your pet's problems and with routine procedures such as OFA. We have an in-house radiology suite and can also provide the services of a traveling Ultrasound Veterinary Specialist when necessary.

Medical Treatment-

Even with preventive medicine there are times when you pet is just not feeling well, has an unexpected incident, or an emergency. If so, a thorough physical exam will be done along with necessary diagnostic procedures to help diagnose and treat your pet as quickly as possible. We understand the need of communication between the owner, staff and doctor to help determine the needs of the patient. Upon admission of your pet in need, we will always maintain the highest level of communication regarding your pet's condition and progress while in our care.

Dentistry-

Dental care of dogs and cats is one of the most commonly overlooked areas of pet healthcare. Dental care is necessary to provide optimum health and quality of life. Dental disease does not just affect the mouth; it can lead to more serious health problems including heart, lung and kidney disease. As we increase our knowledge of animal health, we realize that proper dental care does not only make your pet's breath smell better; it is mandatory for your pet's long term quality of life. At Suburban Animal Hospital, we strongly emphasize the importance of routine dental care including home care and regular in-house cleanings. We provide ultrasonic scaling, polishing, fluoride treatments, Ora-Vet decay prevention, as well as other dental care measures such as extractions.

Exotic/Avian Care-

Dr. Gross has a special interest in exotic/avian care. Since these pets have different health problems as our furry four legged friends they need to be given quality healthcare from a professional who is experienced with their species. Dr. Gross has acquired much experience with many exotics, especially reptiles, while working with the Naples Wildlife Conservancy and with the exotics at the Caribbean Gardens Facility in Naples, FL.

Laboratory-
Diagnostic tests are crucial to our diagnosis. Our laboratory is especially important when your pet is not feeling well and cannot tell us about how they feel. At Suburban Animal Hospital, we have invested in some of the most up-to-date laboratory equipment available to veterinary medicine in order to provide the best and fastest possible care for your pets.

Pharmacy-

Our pharmacy area is well stocked to handle most of your pet's medication needs. Any medication we are unable to provide for your pet can be scripted out for pick-up at a local human pharmacy or special ordered from a compounding pharmacy.

Microchipping-

Microchips have helped reunite thousands of pets with their families. We provide the most recognized, up-to-date microchipping service available provided by Home Again Microchips. These microchips are able to be read by any universal scanner and offer a national database with 24 hour professional service. We strongly recommend microchipping to help increase your pet's chances for a safe return if lost or stolen.
